Dudley, UK — June, 2025
Industrial Valves Limited (IVL) is continuing to invest in the next generation of engineering and water industry professionals, with more than 40% of its team having progressed through apprenticeship programmes.
The company works closely with local colleges across the West Midlands to provide young people with practical routes into the water and engineering sectors, combining workplace experience with the technical knowledge required to develop a long-term career.
Apprentices at IVL have the opportunity to gain experience across a range of specialist areas, including valves, penstocks, water treatment, actuation and technical sales.
For IVL, the aim is not simply to provide an initial opportunity, but to develop apprentices into skilled professionals with the knowledge and experience to build lasting careers within the industry.
The water sector plays an important role in maintaining the UK’s essential infrastructure, while offering career opportunities across engineering, manufacturing, technical sales and other specialist disciplines. IVL believes that giving young people the opportunity to experience these areas first-hand can help demonstrate the range of careers available.
The company’s graduated apprentices are now established members of the IVL team, providing an opportunity for prospective apprentices and students to speak directly with people who have experienced the pathway themselves.
IVL is inviting colleges, students, parents and anyone interested in engineering or technical sales careers to visit the company and learn more about what a career in the water industry can involve.
Visitors can meet members of the team, see IVL’s facilities and speak with graduated apprentices about their experiences, including what they learned, what their day-to-day roles involve and how their careers have developed.
James O’Toole is available to arrange visits for interested colleges, students and groups.

Through its continued investment in apprenticeships and early-career development, Industrial Valves Limited is helping to develop the skills and experience needed to support the future of the water and engineering industries.
